Ever wait until the last second to finish things? I did this semester. I ordered my books for grad school and they came in the day before my class started!
I am also the type of person to put off filling up my gas tank until the very last second. Don’t tell my husband!
Sometimes I feel like God answers prayer at the last second…. But unlike me, He’s not frantic;
He knows exactly what he’s doing.
There could be a few reasons you are not seeing your prayers answered:
According to Psalm 121:7 God may be keeping you from harm.
The LORD will keep you from all harm– he will watch over your life;Psalm 121:7
You coud be asking with wrong motives like what James talks about in 4:3.
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.James 4:3
Proverbs 3:5-6 says to trust God, he may be teaching you and making your paths straight.
Trust in the Lord with all your heartProverbs 3:5-6
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Whatever is the reason, 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 tells us to not give up but to pray continually.
pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
As I started studying these verse, my biggest take away is that we have such a good God! He wants us to talk to Him. He knows the big picture, yet He encourages our ideas, thoughts, and concerns. What a good God. So, if you are feeling like God hasn’t been hearing your prayers, be encouraged! He loves us, He isn’t frantic, He knows the big picture, and He has a reason for unanswered prayer. He might want you to learn how to lean on His understanding, He might want you to know that He is protecting you or He may be making your paths straight. Whatever the case, God isn’t frantically answering your prayers at the last second, and He desires you to keep praying.
