I was on a plane recently, waiting for take off. I had a great podcast ready to go and started to forget where I was.
I looked up and realized the plane had been circulating for an hour. Two hours later and the plane finally took off. Later, I found out that the engine wasn’t prepared to deal with snow yet. I thought to myself,
“Hey, that’s ok. You take all the time you need if the engineer wasn’t ready!“
Sometimes we are not ready for what God has in store for us.
We sometimes have to learn the same lesson over and over again before the lesson really takes off in our lives.
I think that’s why God gave us examples in the Bible of people who had long waiting periods in life.
David had to run from Saul for 4 years before he was made king of Isreal.
The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years.
Joseph, the Bible says, prospered as a slave and was soon appointed as prime minister at age 30.
But before that Joseph was sold into slavery and then was sent to prison for 2 years after being falsely accused.
All too often hardships in life or waiting seasons are looked at as the absence of God. He’s there. He’s just preparing you for the next take off in your life.
