goals for growing.

I don’t normally blog on Sundays, but I’m going to start.

I had an idea today.

I like goals.

I like beginnings of months and weeks and years, they hold the feeling of a fresh start. Especially for someone who constantly feels the need for a fresh start and hefty reminder of grace.

From now on, every Sunday I’ll post my goals for that week. Goals that will help me grow in my walk with Christ, my health, and other random things I feel like throwing in. Goals for growing.

The following Sunday I’ll recap and post my new ones for the week.

I do this with the intention to push myself, but also knowing that I am a drop of water in an ocean of grace. But we don’t sin more simply because we have been given all this grace. We have died to sin and walk a new life in Christ. It is out of this new life that I seek to continually lay down things that separate or hinder me from it. And I’ll be doing this the rest of my life.

What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Or are you unaware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?  Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life.

Romans 6:1-4

Heres this weeks goals for growing!

  • Follow my devotional and read some or all of 1 Peter everyday.
  • Drink my water bottle all day long. (Not literally, I would die. ;)) I’m aiming for 60 or more ounces a day.
  • Run 4.5~5 miles
  • Buy someone I don’t know a coffee (or something similar).

Big(ger) goals~

  • Speaking more openly about Christ with friends and strangers.
  • Getting rid of refined sugar in my diet.

Do you want to follow along?

Think of 3~4 goals that will challenge you someway, but are still attainable this week. And 1~2 goals that  are either far off or that are a big project you are working towards. (If you want to) It would be fun to share! Just link back to this post or let me know in the comments.

Someday maybe I’ll have a cool button or link tool, but if you want you can copy the picture I posted above or hashtag #goalsforgrowing on twitter.

Hope to hear from you!

  1. Goals…I have lots of them but here are a few that I’m going to work on this week!
    – Start the 1 Peter bible study with Allume on Wednesday
    – Finish the paperwork that is spread out all over my table
    – Do not allow mindless and time-wasting things rob me of my precious time!

  2. Can we keep each other accountable on goals? We were just talking about summer goals last Wednesday at Wesley family group and I really want to be intentional about meeting them! (Maybe we can even share in some of these goals! Like talking more openly about Christ often in our apartment or MAYBE you can even get me to run with you!?) Love ya bestie/roomie!!!

  3. This is such a great reminder. Good for you! Let’s do the water thing together for sure … I have to force myself to drink h2o daily in greater amounts.
    – devotions daily, yes please, I struggle with this always
    – really focused time w/ each of my kids (4)
    – reaching out is huge and so hard at times

    • Thank you so much for the sharing Kerry! I’m praying for you and your four kids. I grew up with nine siblings so I know how crazy things can get. 🙂
